Superintendent

Dr. Damon Adams serves as the Superintendent of Pineywoods Community Academy, a tuition-free, open-enrollment public charter school in Lufkin, Texas. With more than 27 years of experience in public education, he has dedicated his career to improving educational opportunities and helping students reach their full potential.
Dr. Adams holds a doctoral degree in education from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and is certified in Texas as both a Principal and Superintendent. Throughout his career, he has served in a variety of leadership roles and also teaches graduate-level courses in Educational Leadership at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, mentoring future school leaders.
As Superintendent, Dr. Adams is committed to fostering a culture of academic excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement. He believes every student should graduate prepared for success in college, careers, and life through rigorous academics, meaningful career pathways, and strong partnerships between schools, families, and the community.
An active member of the Lufkin community, Dr. Adams serves with the Lions Club of Lufkin, the Board of Directors for the Ellen Trout Zoo, and the Advisory Board for the Boys and Girls Club of Lufkin. He is honored to lead Pineywoods Community Academy as it fulfills its mission of helping students "Start Here. Go Anywhere."
